Commemorative Tree planted to mark the coronation of King Charles III

A commemorative oak tree has been planted to mark the coronation of King Charles III, thanks to the efforts of David Butler. In addition to planting the tree, David also installed a protective cage - assisting him in this meaningful task was Cllr James Leach, Chair.

The commemorative oak tree was planted on The Green, near two other historic oaks—’Victoria’  marking the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria’s coronation (1837–1897) and ‘Elizabeth’ celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (1953–2013).

In 2023, the Butler family also provided and planted another oak tree – in memory of Queen Elizabeth II. This tree is located on The Triangle, near the roundabout, serving as a lasting tribute to her legacy.

In November 2018 , the children from the Nettlebed School planted an oak on the centenary of the Armistice, in remembrance of all in this community whose lives were changed by World War I. Barbara Lewis (NPC Chair at the time) was present, along with David Challis, NRBL and Darren Piggott.  A few days later, the Nettlebed Brownies planted spring bulbs by the WW1 Commemoration tree ‘Tommy’ on the Triangle by moonlight. The tree is located on the south side of the Triangle (behind the bus shelter).
